The inscriptions are in Devanagari and Farci including the owner's name Dervis Sahib.

This shirt is part of a large group that were captured and installed into the armoury at Bikaner in Rajasthan following the victory of Maharajah Anup Singh against the Adilshahi dynasty at the siege of Adoni in 1689. See D. Alexander 1992 pp. 160-1.
